Exercises involving 20 ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet have begun in the Barents Sea. According to the press service of the Northern Fleet, surface ships, submarines, boats and support vessels left their permanent bases and made the transition to designated areas.
They noted that as part of the heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea, the heavy nuclear missile cruiser "Peter the Great", the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov", other warships, nuclear and diesel submarines and support vessels operate.
The ships will fire at sea and air targets using artillery, anti-submarine weapons and electronic warfare.
Also, the exercises will work out actions to check tracking and search for foreign submarines. They will take measures to establish control over navigation in the Barents Sea and the flight of aircraft over it.
