TASS, February 15. /tass/. Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V.P.Chkalov (NAZ. Chkalova, a branch of PJSC Sukhoi Company) will modernize production within five years with the construction of a new building for the production of heavy stealth drones S-70 "Hunter", a source in the authorities told TASS.
Speaking to reporters in December 2021 during the roll-out of the version of the S-70 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a flat nozzle at the NAZ sites, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said that a serial contract for its supply would be concluded within six months. According to him, the Hunter is a highly intelligent system capable of solving a wide range of tasks singly, in a group and together with manned aircraft.
"There (the plant) has very good plans. This will be an expansion of the production of the Hunter with the construction of a new building," the agency interlocutor said, without specifying the production volumes of the UAV. He added that the modernization will start in 2022 and will take five years. In connection with the modernization, it is planned to increase the number of jobs by 1.5 times. The amount of investments will be about 2.5 billion rubles.
TASS does not have an operational comment from the plant and intends to receive it later.
Developed in the Sukhoi Design Bureau, the S-70 Hunter drone is made according to the "flying wing" scheme using stealth technology, which reduces its radar visibility. According to open sources, the take-off weight of the device is up to 20 tons, the maximum flight speed is about 1,000 km / h. Serial deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2024. The Hunter took to the air for the first time on August 3, 2019, the flight lasted more than 20 minutes under the control of an operator. On September 27, 2019, the UAV performed a flight together with the Su-57 fighter. The Rostec State Corporation noted that a new ground control point was being created for the Hunter.
NAZ im. Chkalov was founded in 1931. During the Great Patriotic War, he produced more than 15 thousand Yak-7 and Yak-9 fighters. Later, the plant was also focused on the production of military aircraft. Its main products are Su-34 front-line bombers, the plant also produces parts of SSJ-100 civilian passenger aircraft.
