More than 30 warships of various classes take part in the exercises
SEVASTOPOL, February 15. /tass/. The crews of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) during the exercises in the Black Sea practiced conducting naval artillery combat, search and destruction of a submarine of a conditional enemy, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet said.
"The ships of the Black Sea Fleet worked out actions for conducting naval artillery combat, searching for and destroying a submarine of a conditional enemy, as well as for air defense of a detachment of ships at sea crossing as part of an exercise that began at combat training grounds in the Black Sea. In addition to tactical maneuvers at sea, the crews of the ships worked out the issues of defense of the coast of the Crimean Peninsula, the bases of the fleet forces, as well as maritime communications and areas of maritime economic activity," the fleet reported.
It is specified that more than 30 warships of various classes from the Black Sea and other fleets of Russia are involved in the exercises: frigates, patrol ships, small missile ships and missile boats, landing ships, small anti-submarine ships, as well as mine defense ships. The events were held in preparation for major naval exercises under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov. The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the world Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to Russia from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean. In total, over 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel are involved in the events.
