MINSK, Feb 12 - RIA Novosti. Conducting maneuverable defense by mechanized units with the support of artillery and aviation was practiced by the military at the joint exercises of Belarus and Russia "Allied Resolve-2022", the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported on Saturday.
"A tactical episode was played at the Gozhsky training ground (near Belarusian Grodno - ed.), during which the issues of conducting maneuverable defense by mechanized units with the support of artillery and aviation, logistics and technical support units were worked out, and elements of evacuation of the wounded using armored medical vehicles based on BTR-82A were demonstrated," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the plan of the played episode, the intelligence forces detected the movement of the advanced units of the conditional enemy. In order to inflict the first damage, mechanized units that are part of the "fire ambush" entered the battle. "Having completed the task, they withdraw to the company strongpoint, yielding the battlefield to the combat guard units in the BMP-2 platoon. Having inflicted a fire defeat, the unit retreats to prepared positions under the cover of a smoke screen," the Ministry of Defense described the staged episode of the exercises.
According to the report, the episode involves the use of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles to identify the alleged control points of a conditional enemy, on which an air strike was carried out by the forces of the aviation of the Union State.
"The conditional enemy is increasing its efforts and entering into battle with units located on the first line of maneuverable defense, which includes two motorized rifle companies, a tank platoon and a 2s1 "Carnation" battery. Having made an attempt to break through, the conditional enemy is stopped by the fire of a tank company and a grenade launcher platoon, which creates conditions for a counterattack,"the report says. According to the plan of the episode, the forces of the combined arms reserve, which includes two motorized rifle companies, a tank company with the support of the 2s1 "Gvozdika" battery and the BM-21 "Grad" battery, carried out a counterattack and inflicted a final defeat on the conditional enemy.
According to the ministry, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin checked the actions of troops at the Gozhsky training ground during the drawing of this episode.
Joint Belarusian-Russian exercises began on Thursday at the combined arms ranges of the Belarusian armed forces. They mark the second stage of the verification of the reaction forces of the Union State, which will last until February 20. The goal is to work out the reflection of external aggression and terrorist attacks.
