On the same day, February 10, 2022, when Indonesia signed an agreement on the acquisition of 42 French multirole fighter Dassault Rafale, an Agency of the U.S. Department of defense for military cooperation (Defense Security Cooperation Agency DSCA) has sent Congress a notification about possible upcoming sale of Indonesia at the request of its government as part of the American program of the intergovernmental foreign military sales Foreign Military Sales (FMS) 36 multirole fighter Boeing F-15ID. This delivery is approved by the U.S. Department of State. The total cost of the proposed delivery will be $13.9 billion, including training and technical support packages. Weapons will not be included in the delivery.
The first new Boeing F-15EX Eagle II fighter aircraft received by the US Air Force (military number 20-0001, serial number EX-1) at Nellis Air Base, 10/20/2021 (c) William R. Lewis / US Air Force
As you can understand, the F-15ID aircraft should actually become an export analogue of the F-15EX Eagle II fighter, which began to enter service with the US Air Force. According to the DSCA notification, the delivery of F-15ID fighters for Indonesia should include 45 sets of Raytheon AN/APG-82(v)1 airborne radar with AFAR (including 9 spare), 45 sets of the on-board defense complex BAE Systems AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability Systems (EPAWSS) (including 9 spare), 80 complexes of the helmet-mounted target designation system JHMCS, 40 suspended navigation containers AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN, 40 suspended AN/AAQ-33 Sniper ATP sighting containers, as well as AN/ASG-34 suspended optoelectronic detection containers, Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) suspended training containers (P5 CTS), MS-110 suspended reconnaissance containers, and other equipment.
On the part of bmpd, we point out that the notification of the possibility of supplying Indonesia with 36 F-15ID fighters at once with a planned cost of $ 13.9 billion is unexpected, since Indonesia can find such significant funds for such a large-scale purchase only if it is stretched for a sufficiently long period. Earlier, the Indonesian Air Force Command announced plans to purchase only eight F-15EX aircraft, with their entry into service no earlier than 2027.
