Moscow. February 11. INTERFAX - The military at exercises in the Crimea and in the Krasnodar Territory have worked out the deployment of coastal anti-ship complexes "Bastion" with conditional (electronic) launches of cruise missiles, the Black Sea Fleet said on Friday.
"The servicemen carried out the deployment of the complexes, their preparation for combat use and the execution of a training (electronic launch) missile firing at a naval target," the press service of the fleet reported.
They noted that in addition to the tasks of searching for and destroying ships of a conditional enemy, the calculations conducted training on replenishing ammunition, as well as on removing complexes from under attack, changing, equipping and masking new starting positions.
"More than 40 units of military and special equipment are involved in the exercises," the fleet said.
The Bastion complex (NPO Mashinostroeniya, Tactical Missile Armament Corporation) is designed to protect the seashore and defeat surface ships of various classes and types operating as part of amphibious formations, convoys, ship and aircraft carrier strike groups, as well as single ships and ground-based radio-contrast targets in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures. Bastion complexes are deployed in all fleets of the Russian Navy. The flight range of the Onyx Bastion cruise missile is up to 500 km.
On the eve of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation reported that a detachment of six large amphibious ships of the Northern and Baltic fleets of Russia completed the transition from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea and arrived in Sevastopol.
On February 10, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reported that exercises will be held in the Black Sea, in which naval tactical groups will be involved. The exercises will be planned, the military said.
On January 20, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the beginning of a series of maneuvers of the Navy with the participation of more than 140 ships and vessels, over 10 thousand military. The exercises under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov are taking place in the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as in operationally important areas of the World Ocean, the military said. Separate exercises are conducted in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.
On February 7, the press service of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation reported that a detachment of warships consisting of the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, the frigate Admiral Kasatonov and the large anti-submarine ship Vice Admiral Kulakov entered the Mediterranean Sea after passing through the Strait of Gibraltar.
It was reported that in early February, after passing the Suez Canal, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation led by the flagship, the Varyag missile cruiser, entered the Mediterranean Sea. This detachment includes a large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Tributs" and a large sea tanker "Boris Butoma".
The maneuvers are taking place against the backdrop of a crisis in relations between Russia and NATO. The United States, other NATO countries and Ukraine announced the concentration of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
