SEVASTOPOL, February 10. /tass/. The naval minesweepers of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) "Valentin Pikul" and "Vice Admiral Zakharyin" have worked out setting minefields in the Black Sea, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet said on Thursday.
"During the exercise, the crews of the minesweepers carried out the wiring of ships behind trawls with the forcing of a conditional minefield, hit targets imitating naval mines from artillery guns, and also worked out the actions of artillery calculations in repelling the attack of the air attack of a conditional enemy. In addition, specialists of the minesweeping groups of both minesweepers carried out reconnaissance and control trawling, provided the laying of fairways in minefields, carried out a training setting of a mine bank with subsequent sampling," the fleet reported.
It is specified that the next stage of combat training of the Black Sea Fleet's minesweeping forces will be mine countermeasures for planned joint exercises of homogeneous and heterogeneous naval tactical groups in the Black Sea.
The Navy recalled that in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, a series of naval exercises are held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the world Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean. In total, over 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel are involved in the events.
