More than 300 units of weapons and military equipment will be involved in the exercises
ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 9. /tass/. The gunners of the formations of the 49th Army of the Southern Military District stationed in the Caucasus have begun field exercises. As the press service of the district told reporters on Wednesday, more than 2.5 thousand servicemen are taking part in the maneuvers, who will fire from howitzers "Acacia", "Carnation", multiple rocket launchers and other weapons.
"More than 2.5 thousand artillery units of the 49th combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Stavropol and Krasnodar territories, in Adygea and Karachay-Cherkessia, went to the combined arms ranges. <...> The gunners will perform a number of firing exercises from self-propelled howitzers "Acacia", "Carnation", mortars, multiple rocket launchers and anti-tank missile systems," the message says.
The press service clarified that more than 300 units of weapons and military equipment are involved in the exercises. The gunners will work out the deployment and occupation of firing positions, their engineering equipment and camouflage, preparation for the opening of fire, as well as conduct reconnaissance of targets, perform tasks for their destruction and fire control.
At the final stage, tactical exercises with live firing will take place. Artillery units will have to work together with motorized rifle and tank units, air defense units and aviation.
