New air threats are forcing weapons manufacturers to look for new methods of counteraction. Yesterday, February 7, the press service of Rheinmetall Defense announced the release of a new anti-aircraft installation Skyranger 30 HEL.
The key feature of the Skyranger 30 HEL is the regular use of a combat laser. A 20 kW power plant with the possibility of increasing the power to 100 kW complements a 30 mm gun with programmable air-detonation projectiles and a rate of fire of up to 1200 rounds per minute. In addition, a twin installation with guided missiles is installed on the anti-aircraft gun.

The Skyranger 30 HEL can be mounted on mobile wheeled or tracked chassis — for example, the Boxer APC or the Lynx KF41 BMP. In addition, the anti-aircraft gun can be used in stationary mode.
