Heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A were involved during the fighting in the area of the city of Harad in the Yemeni province of Hajjah.
Combat vehicles were used by units of the Saudi royal ground forces, who, together with supporters of President Hadi, launched an offensive against areas occupied by the forces of the Shiite Ansar Allah movement (Houthis).
In a video posted on the Web, the explosions of 220-mm unguided rockets fired at the enemy "Solntsepek" are demonstrated.
According to some reports, the attacking side also actively used conventional multiple rocket launchers, including 122-mm Grads, during this operation.
The first information about the arrival of TOS-1A on the Arabian Peninsula was made public in April 2019. At the same time, photographs appeared that captured the moment of transportation of at least three combat vehicles. A little later it became known about the first operation with their participation.
Military experts then noted that the delivered samples of equipment are equipped with air conditioners, which is quite logical, given how extreme the heat is here. According to various sources, in 2021, the troops had about a dozen of such heavy flamethrowers.
The "Solntsepeks" are currently in service with seven foreign armies, as part of some of them they took part in combat operations, for example in Iraq and Syria.
Saudi combat vehicles are made on the chassis of T-90S main battle tanks. They have 24 guides. The minimum firing range is 400 meters, the maximum is 6000 meters. The 1000-horsepower multi-fuel engine makes it possible to accelerate along the highway at a maximum speed of up to 65 km/h. The fuel reserve is 550 km. Crew - 3 people.
