Yekaterinburg. February 8. INTERFAX - Servicemen of the Central Military District (CVO) have begun preparations for major exercises in the Astrakhan region with S-400 Triumph air defense systems and launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles, the press service of the CVO reported on Tuesday.
"Military personnel of command posts and combat crews of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems of the Central Military District air defense units have begun pre-firing training before participating in large-scale exercises with combat launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles," the report says.
"Pre-firing training will be completed at the end of the month, it involves more than 100 military personnel (...), who at the end of March will have to perform combat launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles at a training ground in the Astrakhan region," the district added.
According to the Central Military District, specialists of the air defense forces will be trained at the Military Academy of Aerospace Defense. According to the results of control tests to repel air raids of a conditional enemy, they will receive access to combat launches of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft guided missiles.
"The course of pre-firing certification includes classes in tactical, technical, special and missile-shooting training, as well as countering highly maneuverable, ultra-high-speed, ballistic targets and targets flying at extremely low altitudes," the Central Military District noted.
The S-400 Triumph system (Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region) is designed to defeat strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other means of air attack. According to official data, the system is capable of hitting aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 km, as well as ballistic targets flying at speeds up to 4.8 km/s at altitudes from several meters to several tens of kilometers at a range of up to 60 km.
