Defense Minister Reznikov: the Iron Dome system will not be able to protect facilities in Ukraine
Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system will not be able to protect strategic facilities in Ukraine. The uselessness of the system was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov during a briefing, Defense Express reports.
Answering the question about the country's interest in buying the Iron Dome, Reznikov said that the Rafael missile defense system would not solve the issue of protecting strategic facilities in Ukraine.
The head of the Defense Department noted that in Israel, the Iron Dome provides protection against low-speed and short-range missiles. Reznikov added that the missile defense system will not be able to protect nuclear power plants, airfields and other strategic facilities on the territory of Ukraine. He also stressed the importance of developing Ukrainian missile defense systems.
In September, Izvestia columnist Anton Lavrov noted that instead of military construction, Ukraine is searching for weapons to repel all phantom attacks.
Earlier in the same month, the United States allowed the deployment of the Iron Dome missile defense system in Ukraine. The Politico publication noted that the amendment to the defense bill for 2022 provides for the transfer of missile defense systems to Ukraine.
