In 19FortyFive, the American M1 Abrams was named the best tank of all time
The columnist of the American edition of 19FortyFive Brent Eastwood called the M1 Abrams the best tank of all time.
"By the beginning of the first Gulf War, the M1A1 Abrams was ready for combat with various Soviet-made Iraqi army tanks, such as the T-55, T-62 and T-72," the author writes, assuring that "the Americans lost only 18 Abrams tanks in a short campaign, nine of which were withdrawn from the battlefield due to damage."
Eastwood notes that the tank, developed back in the 1970s, is still being improved. In particular, the M1A2 modification from the M1A1 is distinguished by an improved combat module, thermal imager, information system and navigation system. In the M1A2 SEPv3 variant, the author writes, the tank becomes even more deadly and protected.
In January, in 19FortyFive, the German Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus was named the "worst of the worst" tank in world history. According to the publication, the 188-ton tank, designed to fight the Soviet T-34, could not be used on most European bridges.
