MOSCOW, Feb 5 - RIA Novosti. Russian servicemen of the Western Military District have completed a bilateral tactical exercise in the Voronezh Region, the press service of the Military District reported.
"The units of the military Air defense (air defense) and operational-tactical aviation of the Western Military District (ZVO) have completed a bilateral tactical exercise in the Voronezh Region," the report says.
It is clarified that within the framework of the exercise, servicemen of anti-aircraft missile units marched on regular military equipment in order to deploy control points to detect air threats and repel a simulated enemy air raid that violated the air borders of the Russian Federation.
"The purpose of the exercise has been achieved. The air defense in the area of responsibility of the Military District reliably protects the western borders of Russia," said the commander of the Military District Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev.
It is supplemented that Su-34 fighter-bombers were involved in the exercise to create conditions as close to combat as possible. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment were involved in the exercise.
