In preparation for the operation of the "Cornet", the personnel of the anti-tank unit of the base underwent retraining at the specialized training center of the Ministry of Defense of Russia in the Saratov region

LYAUR POLYGON /Republic of Tajikistan/, February 5. /tass/. Calculations of anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) "Kornet" of the 201st Russian military base stationed in Tajikistan conducted a training on hitting targets of a conditional enemy at the Lyaur mountain range. This is stated in a message distributed on Saturday by the press service of the Central Military District (CVO).

In 2021, a batch of new modern "Cornet" entered service at the base.

"During practical exercises at the Lyaur mountain range in the Republic of Tajikistan, the calculations of the Kornet anti-tank missile systems of the Russian military base performed the deployment, search, capture of the target, as well as the change of firing positions. In total, the ATGM calculations conditionally hit targets simulating armored and light wheeled vehicles of a conditional enemy at different ranges," the report says.

It is clarified that in the process of preparing for the operation of the "Cornet", the personnel of the anti-tank unit of the base underwent retraining at the specialized training center of the Ministry of Defense of Russia in the Saratov region.

Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District, Alexander Lapin, stated that last year three motorized rifle battalions of the 201st base were completely re-equipped with modern military equipment - BMP-2M and BTR-82A. Its anti-aircraft units received new and all-weather "Willow" complexes. In addition, ASVK-M "Cord" sniper rifles, AK-12 submachine guns, rocket-propelled infantry flamethrowers of increased range and power, and equipment of logistics and technical support services were delivered to the compound.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
