TSAMTO, February 4. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, arrived in Kazan on a working trip. At the Borisoglebskoye airfield, he was met by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
During the visit Denis Manturov visited Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P.Gorbunov - a branch of PJSC "Tupolev". The Minister got acquainted with the implementation of the program for the reproduction of deeply modernized Tu-160M missile bombers, as well as for the repair and modernization of Tu-160 combat aircraft.
Denis Manturov, Rustam Minnikhanov and the head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar inspected the newly manufactured strategic missile carrier Tu-160M, which made its first flight on January 12. The program for the reproduction of Tu-160 aircraft in the upgraded appearance of the Tu-160M was launched by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Tu-160M has retained its appearance, but was created on a completely new technological basis using digital technologies. The new car has 80% updated and upgraded systems and equipment.
Also, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia met with the crew of test pilots of PJSC Tupolev, who operated the new aircraft. The flight took place at an altitude of 600 m and lasted about 30 minutes. The pilots performed maneuvers to test the stability and controllability of the aircraft in the air.
As part of the program for restarting the Tu-160 strategic missile carriers, more than 40% of the equipment of the workshops was updated and modernized at the Kazan Aviation Plant. The world's largest installation of electron beam welding and vacuum annealing of titanium has been put into operation. A significant part of the team has undergone additional training.
