Rostec announced the completion of preliminary tests of the Lotos ACS for the Airborne Forces in 2022
Preliminary tests of the airborne self-propelled artillery gun 2C42 "Lotus", which is being developed for Airborne troops, will be completed in 2022. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Rostec State Corporation.
"Preliminary tests of the first sample of 120-millimeter ACS for the airborne forces "Lotus" will be completed this year. The date of the state tests will be determined by the Russian Ministry of Defense," Rostec reported.
The machine, which was developed by specialists of the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TSNIITOCHMASH), will replace the artillery and mortar installations "Nona-S" in the troops.
CAO "Lotus" was built on the basis of the BMD-4M amphibious assault vehicle. The car received a turret with a 120 mm caliber gun. The maximum effective firing range is 13 kilometers. The 450 horsepower engine provides the self-propelled gun with a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour and a power reserve of 500 kilometers.
Earlier it became known about the supply of new air defense systems to the Airborne Forces. The publication of the magazine "Army Collection" noted that the complexes "Birdman" will enter the troops in 2023.
In January, Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the arms cluster of Rostec State Corporation, announced that the tests of the Octopus-SDM1 floating tank would be completed in early 2022.
