To obtain the required number of products, it is planned to conclude a new long-term contract, a source in the military-industrial complex said
MOSCOW, February 3. /tass/. The volume of production of promising electric torpedoes UET-1 (cipher "Ichthyosaurus") will increase from 2023. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The production volumes of the latest UET-1 torpedoes are planned to increase significantly from next year. In this regard, it is planned to sign a new long-term contract so that the fleet can receive the necessary number of products," the agency interlocutor said.
As part of a five-year contract signed in 2018, the Dagdiesel plant in Dagestan must supply 73 torpedoes to the Russian Navy by 2023. "This amount is not enough to fully equip even all diesel submarines of Project 636.3, which are part of the fleet. This requires at least twice as many products," the agency interlocutor stressed.
TASS has no official information on this matter.
The UET-1 is a new universal electric torpedo of 533 mm caliber with improved combat and technical characteristics. It replaced the obsolete homing electric torpedo USET-80. The torpedo has a higher speed and a better ability to detect underwater targets. Among the features of the new product is the ability to detect the wake of surface ships and the ability to smoothly adjust the speed.
