YEKATERINBURG, February 2. /tass/. Exercises of MiG-31BM high-altitude interceptor fighters of the Aviation Division of the Central Military District (CVO) have started in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The pilots will work out counteraction to the air reconnaissance and strike complexes of a conditional enemy, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the press service of the district.
"As part of the combat training tasks, the MiG-31BM crews will work out the detection and destruction of aircraft jammers and long-range radar detection aircraft (AWACS) of the "enemy" conducting reconnaissance activities in the area of responsibility of the air defense," the report says.
As noted, the search for the air forces of a conditional enemy will be carried out using the on-board radar equipment "Zaslon-M", which allows simultaneously tracking more than 20 air targets at a distance of over 300 km.
Pilots will perform aerial maneuvers at altitudes from 400 to 18 thousand meters, singly, as well as as part of pairs and links.
Tactical flight exercises will be completed at the end of the week, 11 units of aviation equipment are involved in them: MiG-31BM interceptor fighters, A-50 AWACS aircraft, An-12 and An-26 transport aircraft, more than 50 units of ground equipment and about 300 military personnel from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, flight control and support groups.
