TSAMTO, February 2. The Ministry of Defense of India announced on January 27 at the Titagarh Wagons Ltd. enterprise in the presence of representatives of the Indian Navy, the ceremony of laying the keel of the lead vessel for the DSC (Diving Support Craft) diving operations.
The contract for the supply of five diving support vessels (factory numbers 325-329) to the Indian Navy Command was signed with Titagarh Wagons Ltd on February 12, 2021. The first vessel should be delivered to the customer at the end of 2022, and the remaining ones - within the next 12 months.
The ships are designed to assist with diving operations in and near ports, underwater repairs, maintenance and search and rescue operations. The vessels will be equipped with modern diving equipment and tools for performing diving operations.
Located in Titagarh (West Bengal), Titagarh Wagons is a major manufacturer of wagons for Indian railways, as well as mining equipment. A subsidiary of Titagarh Marines is engaged in shipbuilding.
As reported by TSAMTO, the Defense Procurement Council of the Ministry of Defense of India (DAC) in June 2016 approved the allocation of 1.5 billion rubles. rupees for the construction of five diving support vessels by the national company. According to unofficial information, the value of the concluded contract is about 2 billion. rupees ($27.6 million).
