Italy has begun testing the C1 Ariete AMV tank with an upgraded engine
An upgraded version of the Italian C1 Ariete tank, which received an improved engine and an updated fire control system, has been put to the test. This is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The upgraded tank was equipped with an IVECO V12 MTCA diesel engine with a capacity of 1500 horsepower with a Common Rail fuel supply system. Also, the C1 Ariete AMV plans to integrate a fire control system from the Centauro II wheeled vehicle, which includes a target tracking machine, new sights and weather sensors.
The C1 Ariete tank was developed in 1984 on the basis of the German Leopard 2. Serial production began in 1995. Until 2002, 200 vehicles were produced, which were adopted by the Italian Land Forces.
Earlier, the publication 19FortyFive called the German Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus the worst tank in history. The publication noted the mass of the car, which limited mobility.
In December last year it became known that Russia is considering the possibility of creating a wheeled tank with a fighting compartment of the machine "Octopus-SDM1".
