The Russian Su-30SM2 fighter surpasses the models of Western combat aircraft in terms of target range and maneuverability. This was reported on January 31 by the American edition of Military Watch Magazine .
"In terms of endurance and maneuverability, it surpasses any Western fighter, and the range of hitting targets with air-to-air missiles in 400 km of the CM / CM2 modification exceeds the most powerful Western aircraft twice or even more," the authors of the article emphasized.
The publication recalled that the Su-30SM2 is in service with the Baltic Fleet air group covering Kaliningrad. The fighters were produced at a factory in Irkutsk, and later they were sent to the Kaliningrad region.
The new fighters will replace the Su-24M strike fighters in the country's fleet and Su-27 aircraft in the aerospace forces of Russia.
The Su-30SM2, unlike the previous Su-30SM, is equipped exclusively with Russian-made equipment, the journalists found out.
The new generation of the aircraft has improved the radar control system, a set of electronic countermeasures and an optoelectronic sighting and navigation system.
As noted by Izvestia, the Su-30SM2 is the most numerous type of modern fighter aircraft in the Russian naval aviation and the VKS.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin told the publication that work on the deep modernization of this aircraft and import substitution began in 2015.
"Super-Dry" is equipped with an AL-41F-1C engine. Its thrust exceeds the power of the Su-30SM powerplant by 16%. The repair interval of the aircraft is estimated at 4 thousand hours.
The predecessor of the "Super-Dry" Su-30SM is in service with Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
