MOSCOW, Feb 2 - RIA Novosti. More than 10 Russian ships and support vessels went on exercises off the coast of Kamchatka, the press service of the Eastern Military District told reporters in the information support department of the Pacific Fleet (TOP).
It is noted that the two tactical groups consist of more than 10 ships and support vessels of the Pacific Fleet. They will have to conduct training on joint tactical maneuvering, the destruction of conditional targets, as well as search for submarines of a conditional enemy, jointly repel an air attack and conduct artillery and anti-aircraft missile firing.
The tactical groups include the small missile ship Smerch, the small anti-submarine ships Kholmsk, Ust-Ilimsk, MPK-107, naval minesweepers and support vessels.
Earlier, a detachment of ships of the Primorsky Flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Pacific Fleet headed to the Sea of Okhotsk from Vladivostok to fulfill the tasks of the planned exercise. During the events, the warships will work out tasks to ensure the security of maritime communications and areas of maritime economic activity in the east of Russia.
In accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, in January-February, a series of naval exercises are held in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the world Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to Russia from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean. In total, it is planned to attract more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel to the exercises.
