KALININGRAD, January 31. /tass/. The ships of the Baltic Fleet that carried out combat training missions at sea, due to the storm wind, the speed of which reached 28 m / s, were returned to their bases, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.

As noted, during the last day a storm raged in the Baltic Sea, the wind strength was up to 28 m / s, the sea excitement reached 5 points, the height of the waves on the coast exceeded 4.5 m.

"All the ships and vessels of the Baltic Fleet met the impending storm at their regular berths. The ships performing tasks in the Baltic Sea were notified in advance of the impending storm and returned to the base," the press service said.

It is clarified that on the basis of the forecast provided by the hydrometeorological center of the Baltic Fleet, the combat training plan of formations and units of the fleet was adjusted, the conditions for parking ships at berthing facilities were changed taking into account the strength and direction of the wind, tugs were assigned and prepared for immediate operation. According to the instructions, the duty and watch service was strengthened, the ships were sealed and the upper deck equipment was fixed in a storm, emergency parties were put on high alert.

"According to the assessment of the command, the fleet forces were timely prepared for the impact of the elements. Stormy weather did not affect the combat readiness of the formations and military units of the Baltic Fleet, the fleet forces on duty served in the normal mode," the press service stressed.

Earlier it was reported about the planned exercises of the Baltic Fleet forces taking place in the Baltic with the participation of about 20 warships, boats and support vessels, among them - small missile ships and boats, small anti-submarine ships, base and raid minesweepers, support vessels, as well as aircraft and helicopters of the naval aviation of the fleet.
