A rare Russian anti-tank complex "Kornet-T" on a BMP-3 chassis is seen at a railway station in Belarus. The car was in the echelon that arrived to participate in joint maneuvers of the armies of the two countries.
The Kornet-T was first demonstrated publicly at the Tank Biathlon in 2014. Instead of a turret, the BMP-3 tracked chassis is equipped with a compartment with a retractable launcher for two ready-to-fire ATGMs. The ammunition of the machine is 16 missiles, the reloading system is automatic.
In the left front part of the vehicle there is a sighting station protected by an armored casing. It is capable of finding targets and aiming missiles at them at a distance of up to four kilometers, writes Army Recognition. In case the machine fails, the kit includes a tripod for using the "Cornet" in a portable version.
The installation is capable of using all ATGMs of the Kornet family, including tandem-cumulative 9M133 and 9M133-1 with a thermal guidance head capable of piercing up to 1.2 meters of armor, as well as 9M133F and 9M133FM with high-explosive and thermobaric warheads.
Thanks to the BMP-3 base, the new version of the Cornet can move in combat formations of motorized infantry, covering them from the attack of heavy armored vehicles, destroying enemy infantry in the field and fortifications.
