The air defense unit of the Central Military District conducted exercises with the latest Nebo-T radar complexes. Before they went on combat duty in the regions of the Urals and the Volga region, the performance of the equipment was tested with the help of combat aircraft.
"Especially to check the radars from the airfields of the Central Military District in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions, multifunctional supersonic Su-34 fighters were lifted into the sky, which imitated a likely enemy. The actions of the servicemen made it possible to quickly recognize targets, measure their coordinates and provide escort. The specialists successfully coped with the tasks set," the press service of the Central Military District reported.
They clarified that the deeply upgraded Nebo-T radar stations first entered the district's troops in January 2020. In the middle of this week, they will take up combat duty. These radars are significantly superior to their analogues in terms of their tactical and technical characteristics. They are able to find and track aerodynamic and ballistic targets faster and with high accuracy within a radius of up to 600 km.
"The introduction of new radars on combat duty will increase the combat capabilities of the air defense units of the Central Military District in the regions of the Volga region and the Urals," the press service of the Central Military District said.
