All engine tests were successful
MOSCOW, January 28. /tass/. NPO Energomash last year transferred the first RD-171MV engine to the Progress Rocket and Space Center for testing. This was announced by the CEO of NPO Energomash Igor Arbuzov.
"In 2021, we conducted the first tests of the RD-171MV engine designed for the promising Soyuz-5 rocket. All these tests were successful. <...> In 2021, the first engine was delivered for bench tests as part of the stage," Arbuzov said on Roscosmos TV.
According to the CEO, all obligations to customers have been fulfilled. He noted that the key industry events in which Energomash took part were the launches of space launch vehicles. There were 22 such launches in Russia - all of them were successful. Energomash engines were also used in four launches of the Atlas rocket and two Antares rockets. "That is, 28 launches in the world were provided with the use of NPO Energomash engines," Arbuzov added.
In December 2020, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin reported on the first full-size fire test of the world's most powerful liquid rocket engine RD-171MV, all parameters were normal. This engine is being created for the promising Soyuz-5 medium-class launch vehicle.
In January last year, Arbuzov, in an interview with the newspaper Za Rodina, announced plans to deliver the RD-171MV engine to the Progress RCC in 2021 for its tests as part of a rocket stage.
