The crews of the small anti-submarine ships of the Kola flotilla "Brest" and "Snezhnogorsk" worked out the search and attack of a submarine in the Barents Sea as part of exercises with the Arctic Expeditionary Group of forces and troops. This was reported to journalists on Thursday in the press service of the Northern Fleet.
According to the scenario of the exercises, the ship's search and strike group searched for a submarine of a conditional enemy in the Barents Sea, and then the ship Snezhnogorsk carried out its attack with the conditional use of naval anti-submarine weapons. Counteraction to the ships was carried out by the crew of the diesel-electric submarine "Kaluga".
"After working out anti-submarine tasks, the crews of the ships Brest and Snezhnogorsk conducted joint artillery firing at sea and air targets, indicating the reflection of the attack of surface ships and aircraft of a conditional enemy," the fleet said.
Exercises with the Arctic expeditionary group are conducted under the leadership of the Commander of the Northern Fleet. It involves up to 1,200 personnel, about 140 units of combat and special equipment, up to 20 aircraft, up to 30 ships, submarines and support vessels.
