The Ukrainian military-industrial complex is moving towards the creation of a wheeled self-propelled gun. Yesterday, January 26, the portal defence-ua.com He reported that the Bogdana self-propelled gun had successfully completed preliminary fire tests.
The shooting took place in December last year and ended this month. A total of 450 volleys were fired with a target range of up to 42 km. Thus, Bogdana surpassed the 40 km range laid down by the manufacturer without the use of active-rocket projectiles.
Fire tests of the Bogdana self-propelled gun:
Defense Express points out that 155-mm shells of Turkish and Czech production were used during the tests, including long-range projectiles with improved aerodynamics and the HE ERFB-BB driving belt from Excalibur Army. Preliminary fire tests were conducted as part of departmental tests, and this allows the Ukrainian army to put the Bogdan into service this year.
The Bogdana self-propelled gun has a 155 mm caliber gun of the "NATO" standard. When using an automatic loader, the gun can fire at a rate of six rounds per minute. At the same time, all control is carried out using a special electronic remote control. "Bogdana" is built on the basis of a six-wheeled KrAZ all-terrain truck. The truck is equipped with a paired armored cab, which houses the driver and the artillery crew. At the same time, further replacement of the chassis is possible.
