The collapse of the USSR ignited many wars on the territory of the post-Soviet space. For example, at that time, the conflict in Transnistria broke out in full, where the fighters of the People's Republic opposing the Chisinau formations were significantly inferior to the first in technical equipment.
If Moldova was able to privatize a significant amount of military equipment of the Soviet Army units located on its territory, then the PMR received relatively little property of one of the engineering units. Therefore, they had to make homemade "tanks" from floating PTS transporters, which received reinforced booking of the front part of the hull and roof.
The BAT track-laying machines created on the chassis of the AT-T crawler tractor were also armored. This technique was used in the battles of June 1992.
For example, it is known that in Bendery, the sent officers of the Special Police Unit of Moldova on two armored personnel carriers attacked the barracks of Pridnestrovians. Then there was a unique case, the analogues of which did not happen during local conflicts on the territory of the former Soviet Union. Due to the lack of weapons, shielded BATs were thrown to the aid of the besieged, whose crews began ramming these armored personnel carriers at high speed. This attack scared the OPON so much that they fled the scene of the clash. Soon the captured equipment began to fight against its former owners.
