The headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet reported that a large group of warships and support vessels were going to sea. They left their bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk to participate in maneuvers. The command of the Black Sea Fleet in total attracts more than two dozen crews to them.
"As part of the exercise in the Black Sea, frigates, patrol ships, small missile ships and missile boats, landing ships, small anti-submarine ships, as well as minesweepers are involved as part of heterogeneous groups, naval strike groups and landing craft detachments," the press service of the Black Sea Fleet informed. They added that during the transition to the designated places, the crews will train in organizing communications, safe maneuvering in areas with heavy shipping and conducting air defense at sea.
Earlier, the exercises were announced in the Northern and Baltic Fleets, as well as in the Caspian Flotilla. As for the Pacific, they have just demonstrated their skills during the joint Russian-Chinese naval maneuvers "Peaceful Sea-2022", which took place in the western part of the Arabian Sea.
Last week, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that in accordance with the training plan of the Russian Armed Forces for 2022, a series of naval exercises are being held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. It is known that more than 140 ships and support vessels will be involved in these maneuvers. As well as over 60 aircraft, 1 thousand units of military equipment and about 10 thousand military personnel.
It was said that the main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and the Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the oceans, as well as to counter military threats to Russia from sea and ocean directions. The maneuvers will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the territory of our country, as well as important areas of the World Ocean. In addition, separate exercises will be held in the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.
