MOSCOW, January 25 - RIA Novosti. The Western Military District (ZVO) has deployed a new electronic warfare battalion in the Belgorod region (bordering Ukraine in the south), which "will shorten the time to obtain the necessary information," the ZVO told reporters on Tuesday.
"A separate electronic warfare battalion became part of the Vistula Motorized Rifle Division of the Western Military District. The units of the new military unit are stationed in the Belgorod region," the district reported.
Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev, commander of the ZVO troops, was quoted by the press service as saying that the unit's entry into the division "will significantly increase the reconnaissance capabilities of the unit and reduce the time to obtain the necessary information."
According to the ZVO, the electronic warfare battalion is designed to interact with the military command bodies of the division headquarters and create effective electronic protection and counteraction to technical means of intelligence. He is armed with complexes "Leer-3", "Borisoglebsk-2" and "Resident".
"The military personnel of the battalion have already started training on a modular training system and work on the introduction of the most promising forms and methods of using electronic warfare units, taking into account the modern military equipment coming to the troops of the combined arms army of the Far East," the district added.
