Moscow. January 25. INTERFAX - Alliance Aerohimflot and JSC GLONASS in order to improve flight safety in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation have agreed to work together on the development and use of Russian geoinformation systems in the field of aviation operations, the press service of the operator JSC GLONASS reports.
"The implementation of the agreement on cooperation in the field of improving the efficiency and safety of light aircraft flights in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, which was signed by Igor Milashevsky, Director General of GLONASS JSC and Klim Galiullin, head of the Aerohimflot Alliance, provides for the development of GLONASS services for transport and communications and other types of aviation work," the press release said on Tuesday.
The message quotes Milashevsky, who noted that by signing the agreement, the company confirms the importance of a real project with the alliance of aviation works, which is already underway. "We will consistently implement the already planned measures to create information systems, end-to-end solutions and equipment. I am confident in the effectiveness of our joint activities," he said.
According to the press service, in 2022-2024, the Aerohimflot alliance is ready to allocate up to 100 AN-2, AN-3 aircraft with professional crews for the organization of air communication between remote settlements and regional (municipal) centers of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. All aircraft will be equipped with GLONASS trackers, which will improve safety and ensure the "transparency" of air transportation. In the future, as unmanned aircraft systems develop, drones are also planned for use.
"When our planes fly hundreds of kilometers away from the base, we know where they are at any time. This allows not only to increase efficiency, but also to come to the crew's aid in time if necessary. It is modern services that should play a crucial role in this matter," Galiullin said.
It is reported that the joint pilot project of the Aerohimflot alliance and GLONASS JSC was launched back in October 2020, when 5 aircraft of one of the operators performing forest aviation operations in Siberia were equipped with GLONASS trackers in test mode. The aviators highly appreciated the capabilities of the system, noting the importance of innovative services when working in remote regions of the country.
