The Russian-Chinese naval exercises "Peaceful Sea - 2022" were held in the western part of the Arabian Sea. This was reported on January 25 in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
From Russia, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) was involved as part of the Nakhimov Guards Order of the Varyag missile cruiser, the Admiral Tributs large anti-submarine ship (BOD) and the Boris Butoma large sea tanker. China presented the Urumqi missile destroyers and the Taihu integrated supply ship.
"During the exercises, Russian ships together with the Chinese Navy (naval forces. - Ed.) carried out tactical maneuvering and organization of inspection actions of a conditionally captured cargo vessel, as which the tanker Boris Butoma was used. Also, the sailors of the two countries worked out the release of the conditionally seized vessel," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the military carried out the transfer by helicopter of a conditionally wounded man from the Admiral Tributs BOD to the Urumqi destroyer. For these purposes, the Ka-27PS deck helicopter of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet was used.
On January 21, it was reported that the military of the Russian Federation, Iran and China worked out countering maritime piracy during the CHIRU-2022 naval exercises in the Arabian Sea. 14 warships and auxiliary vessels were involved in the exercises.
The military worked out practical skills in conducting inspections and freeing a ship conditionally captured by pirates.
