MOSCOW, January 25 - RIA Novosti. The Russian military proposed to fight the enemy's combat swimmers with the help of acoustic waves that will cause underwater saboteurs pain in the ears, as well as a feeling of fear, weakness and depression - the concept is presented in the new issue of the magazine "Military Thought".
According to the authors of the project, the enemy can use sabotage and reconnaissance groups, including combat swimmers, to mine ships, surface ships and submarines of the Russian Navy. Specially trained animals can be used for the same purposes — dolphins, sea lions, seals, and so on.
To combat saboteurs, it is proposed to create a security system that includes monitoring, recognition and non-lethal effects on detected violators.
"It is important to note that the effect of acoustic radiation in the aquatic environment can be characterized by the occurrence of a biological object not only specific auditory sensations in the form of pain, but also the appearance of feelings of fear, anxiety, weakness, causeless discomfort and depression," military scientists explain.
Monitoring of the system should ensure the detection and determination of the coordinates of a potential threat object both at a distance of several kilometers and directly near the protected object — at a distance of several tens to hundreds of meters. It is the near monitoring zone that is most relevant for the impact on infringing biological objects, the article clarifies.
According to the authors, the use of hydroacoustic means to combat underwater saboteurs will minimize damage to both violators and the biosphere, and avoid environmental and other negative consequences.
