During the reconstruction of the BAM section in the Amur Region, military railway workers of the Eastern Military District use GAZ-3344-20 "Aleut" two-link tracked snowmobiles of high cross-country capability. They entered service with the yellow brigades stationed in the Amur Region and the Khabarovsk Territory last year. This was reported in the press service of the VVO.
They said that the Aleut all-terrain vehicle is made according to a modular scheme. Its front link is an energy module that can carry 5 people, including the driver. And the rear link is a transformable passenger module with a capacity of 15 people. If necessary, it can be easily converted into a sleeping or medical unit, as well as a command post. The payload of this module is 2500 kg.
The designers equipped the Aleut with a well-proven diesel engine, an automatic transmission and simple controls. They are similar to those installed on a regular truck. The all-terrain vehicle can be operated in a temperature range from minus to plus 50 degrees Celsius, which is perfectly suited to the local sharply continental climate.
And GAZ-3344-20 is also able to overcome various water obstacles. The Aleut carries out afloat movement with the help of a crawler. The machine is also equipped with a preheater of the engine and fuel. It is equipped with a salon heating system.
