Columnist Litovkin: Russia can build and operate military transport aircraft
Currently, Russia has all the capabilities for the mass construction and operation of military transport aircraft, admits TASS military observer Dmitry Litovkin.
The author, in particular, recalls Russian humanitarian missions to European countries. "In addition to providing exercises and peacekeeping operations in Syria and Kazakhstan, we can recall the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Russian military provided assistance to Italy. Then Moscow simultaneously sent a dozen and a half Il-76 aircraft to the Apennines," the observer writes.
The author also recalls the Russian An-124 Ruslan aircraft, which delivered ventilators to the United States, which later turned out to be unnecessary for Americans. "The Russian Federation has managed to solve two important tasks with such a step: to demonstrate the sincerity of its intentions, and at the same time — the capabilities of the modern Russian army," the author writes.
In October 2020, the BuzzFeed portal reported that the American Federal Emergency Management Agency disposed of 45 artificial lung ventilation (ventilator) devices received from Russia without ever using them. "We helped at a difficult moment, and the rest is no longer our question," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the situation at the same time, ruling out the unfitness of equipment supplied from Russia to the United States.
