Moscow. January 20. INTERFAX-AVN - More than 140 ships and more than 10,000 military personnel will take part in a series of exercises to be held in January and February by the Russian Navy, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"In total, it is planned to involve more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel to participate in the events," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The exercises will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean," the military department reported.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a series of exercises of the Russian Navy will be held in all areas of responsibility of fleets in January-February. It is reported that the maneuvers are conducted in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022.
The overall leadership of the exercises is entrusted to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
"The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the forces of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the World Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions," the message says.
