MOSCOW, January 20 - RIA Novosti. The Russian Navy will hold a series of exercises in the near future, the Defense Ministry said.
"In accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, a series of naval exercises are held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov," the department said.
The maneuvers will involve more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, a thousand units of military equipment, about ten thousand military personnel.
"The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the oceans, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions," the ministry said.
The maneuvers will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as in operationally important areas. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern and Okhotsk Seas, as well as in the north-eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.
Earlier it became known about the plans of Russia, Iran and China to hold joint CHIRU naval exercises in the Persian Gulf region. To participate in them, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) as part of the Nakhimov Guards Order of the Varyag missile cruiser, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma anchored at the roadstead of the port of Chahbehar (Iran).
