The tank has all-round protection against modern anti-tank weapons
MOSCOW, January 20. /tass/. General Director of Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, part of Rostec State Corporation) Alexander Potapov reported to the head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu on the successful implementation in 2021 of the contract for the supply of upgraded T-72B3 tanks to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported to TASS by the UVZ press service.
Uralvagonzavod has fulfilled another state defense order for the supply of upgraded T-72B3 tanks. Alexander Potapov, General Director of Uralvagonzavod Concern, reported this to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on a single day of acceptance of military products," the message reads.
According to the company, UVZ delivered more than 30 such tanks to the Russian army in 2021. As Potapov clarified in Shoigu's report, "34 T-72BZ tanks with additional protection have been delivered, which have been modernized during major repairs."
"The T-72B3, developed in the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering, has implemented all-round protection against modern anti-tank weapons," the press service stressed.
As noted in the UVZ, the upgraded tank also uses automatic current control and technical diagnostics of systems.
"According to the main tactical and technical characteristics, the upgraded T-72B3 tank with additional protection meets modern requirements. It provides parity with serial foreign tanks, while remaining simple and reliable in operation," Potapov stressed.
