MOSCOW, January 18. /tass/. More than two thousand servicemen of the Western Military District are involved in live firing exercises in the Leningrad Region. This was reported to journalists on Tuesday in the press service of the district.
"Practical actions are taking place at the combined arms ranges Kirillovsky and Luzhsky. The personnel of motorized rifle, tank and reconnaissance units are improving the skills of driving and shooting from the armament of T-72B3 tanks," the district said.
Also, as part of the exercises, firing from AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers, RPG-7B grenade launchers, AK-74M submachine guns and SVD-M sniper rifles will be carried out.
According to the press service, special attention will be paid to working out tasks for covert movement and hitting targets using surveillance and aiming devices, determining the distance to the target and adjusting fire, as well as modern experience in conducting local military conflicts.
Combat training events are taking place as planned during the winter training period, the district added.
