The Ukrainian military announced requirements for a car that will replace the Soviet BMP-1 and BMP-2
The Command of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has revealed the requirements for a promising light infantry fighting vehicle (BMP). The new equipment can replace the Soviet BMP-1 and BMP-2, Defense Express reports .
The military plans to get a floating car weighing about 18 tons with a front-mounted engine and transmission compartment. One of the requirements was a modular design that will allow you to change the configuration of the machine. Also, the new BMP should have enhanced mine protection and an increased troop compartment.
They want to equip the car with a combat module with a 30-millimeter automatic cannon, a paired machine gun and an anti-tank missile system "Barrier". The combat module will also be equipped with a thermal imaging sight and a digital fire control system.
The publication notes that a car weighing 18 tons can only receive protection from small arms bullets.
In December, the commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, announced that in the near future the Russian military will receive a new BMP B-19. The machine with the Epoch combat module can hit helicopters, armored vehicles and enemy manpower.
