The Israeli company Smart Shooter has introduced the Smash Dragon system for drones. According to Israel Defense, it allows you to arm the devices with machine guns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers and other high-precision weapons.
Today, drones are very common, relatively cheap, and their technical characteristics are constantly improving. Although sometimes quite dangerous things are installed on them (for example, a chainsaw or a flamethrower ), the situation is more difficult with firearms. In order for a drone to shoot from a submachine gun or rifle, it needs a stabilization system, which is difficult and expensive to develop.
Nevertheless, some companies are working on the concept of armed multicopters. Norwegian Nammo is testing a drone with an M72 anti-tank grenade launcher, and the 205th weapons factory of the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan is developing a drone with a submachine gun.
The Israeli company Smart Shooter introduced the Smash Dragon system in January. It is a robotic payload that allows you to arm various drones with machine guns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers and other high-precision weapons.
Smash Dragon combines a stabilization system with Smash technology, which allows you to accurately hit static and moving targets. Smart Shooter has already worked out the latter in a number of its other products. In particular, in smart sights that are able to predict the point of impact of a bullet, taking into account the ballistic characteristics of the weapon used.
Smash Dragon is installed on different drones. You can manage it remotely. The system has already passed the firing tests.
The idea of arming drones comes not only to arms companies, but also to criminals. Earlier we wrote about a Mexican cartel that used a drone with bombs in a drug war.
