During the training, they worked out more than 10 training tasks on countering air targets
YEKATERINBURG, January 14. /tass/. Crews of upgraded MiG-31BM high-altitude interceptor fighters of the air defense forces on duty of the Central Military District (CVO) covered the airspace and intercepted the "violators" while practicing combat training tasks in the Urals and Siberia. This is stated in a statement issued on Friday by the press service of the district.
"As part of the implementation of combat training tasks, the crews of the air defense forces on duty in the Perm and Krasnoyarsk Territories conducted independent monitoring of the airspace without the use of ground-based radar reconnaissance. MiG-31BM pilots detected conditional violators with the help of on-board radar stations "Zaslon-M". <...> During the training of duty forces, MiG-31BM crews worked out more than 10 training tasks to counter air targets operating at low and medium altitudes and speeds up to two thousand km/h," the report says.
The press service clarified that the Ural interceptor fighters escorted the "enemy" aircraft, transmitted their coordinates to ground-based air defense systems and performed forced landing maneuvers. The Siberian crews carried out a rapprochement with the aircraft of the "enemy" to a distance of about 40 km and performed electronic launches of air-to-air missiles on the offending aircraft.
10 MiG-31BM aircraft and about 200 military personnel from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, combat crews of ground radar complexes and air defense systems, as well as flight control and support groups were involved in the training of the crews on duty of MiG-31BM interceptors.
