The newest small rocket ship "Cyclone" completes factory sea trials

The ship's systems are being audited, preparations are underway for the final stage of state tests, which begin next week.

SEVASTOPOL, January 14. /tass/. The passage of factory sea trials is completed on the small rocket ship "Cyclone", built for the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet). A number of systems have already been tested, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet told reporters on Friday.

"The newest small rocket ship "Cyclone" of the Karakurt project, built for the Black Sea Fleet at the B. E. Butoma shipyard in Kerch, is completing the passage of factory sea trials. <...> shipboard life support, energy and survivability systems, autonomous operation of communications, ventilation and air conditioning, indicators of speed, maneuverability and stability of the ship have been tested," the message says.

The press service added that to date, radar and electronic equipment, as well as artillery and anti-aircraft weapons have been successfully tested on the ship, live firing took place at the naval training ground.

The small rocket ship of the project 22800 is armed with a universal missile system with Kalibr missiles, an AK-176MA artillery installation, an anti-aircraft missile system Pantsir-M, large-caliber machine gun installations. The cruising range of the ship is 2,500 miles, the autonomy is 15 days.

MRK project 22800 (code "Karakurt") is a Russian series of multi-purpose rocket and artillery ships of the near sea zone. The project was developed in 2015 by specialists of the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz" in St. Petersburg. Currently, there are three ships of this series in the combat composition of the Russian Navy - "Mytishchi", "Sovetsk" and "Odintsovo". They serve in the Baltic Fleet. In total, according to the plan, 18 such ships should be built, they will be equally divided between the Pacific, Baltic and Black Sea fleets.
