MOSCOW, January 14 - RIA Novosti. A sudden check of combat readiness is being carried out in the troops of the Eastern Military District, the Ministry of Defense reported.
The exercises will allow assessing the army's ability to act quickly after regrouping over long distances across Russia, the ministry added. Some compounds and parts are transferred to unfamiliar polygons at a considerable distance from the points of permanent deployment.
"The units and military units of the Eastern Military District carry out a set of measures to bring them to the highest degrees of combat readiness with access to the concentration areas. A number of formations and military units of the Eastern Military District, as part of a surprise check, are marching in a combined way to unfamiliar training grounds located at a considerable distance from permanent deployment points to perform combat training tasks," the report says.
The Air Defense units will have to work out a wide range of tasks for the organization of comprehensive support and perform control and test exercises in combat training subjects.
Special attention will be paid to the capabilities of the transport infrastructure for the transportation of military personnel and equipment.
As the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov reported in December, the strategic command and staff exercise "Vostok-2022", which will be the main event of training the Armed Forces in 2022, will be held in September, it is planned to invite military contingents of foreign states.
