Ukroboronprom handed over a batch of repaired ZSU-23-4M "Shilka" to the military
The Ukrainian enterprise "Balaklei Repair Plant" (as part of the Ukroboronprom concern) handed over to the military the repaired ZSU-23-4M "Shilka" anti-aircraft self-propelled guns. This is reported by Defense Express with reference to the press service of the concern.
The ZSU repair work was carried out within the framework of the state defense order, but the company had to use its own funds. It is noted that the repaired cars were handed over to the customer in a timely manner.
The publication stressed that in 2020, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine planned to order a batch of upgraded ZSU-23-4M-A1. They wanted to include an improved anti-aircraft gun in the state defense order.
The self-propelled installation of the Shilka complex was adopted in 1962. The car received a quadruple automatic cannon AZP-23 "Amur". ZSU-23-4 is designed to combat aerial targets at altitudes from 100 to 1500 meters.
In December, the head of the military Air Defense (air defense) of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Leonov, announced that the Derivation-Air Defense complex would receive projectiles with programmable detonation. This will allow you to hit small targets.
