The Ukrainian army received overhauled anti-aircraft self-propelled guns ZSU-23-4M "Shilka". According to the press service of the Ukroboronprom concern, restoration work was carried out at the Balaklei Repair Plant, which is located in the Izyumsky district of the Kharkiv region.
The number of delivered equipment is not reported, but judging by the photos, we are talking about at least two combat vehicles. It is claimed that all the work was carried out in a timely and high-quality manner, and each stage was controlled by specialists of the military department.
After the self-propelled guns were assembled, they were tested at the test site and only after that they were sent to the customer.
By the way, the acting director said that the work was carried out under a contract with the state for 2021, at the same time, part of it was carried out directly at the expense of the company's working capital.
ZSU-23-4 by the beginning of the punitive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass were not in service with the ground forces of Ukraine - they were taken to storage bases.
Anti-aircraft missile and cannon "Tunguska" were operated in units and formations. Only about seven dozen. However, in the summer of 2014, due to losses and due to the formation of new combined arms brigades, Kiev officials in uniform were forced to return the "Shilki" to service again.
At first, it was about modernized samples, which were going to completely replace the on-board electronic equipment and additionally install surface-to-air missiles, but due to budget shortages, it was only necessary to restore old Soviet equipment.
