General Director of the Yantar Plant: the plant can continue the BDK series of project 11711
New large amphibious assault ships (BDK) can be built in Russia. Ilya Samarin, General Director of the Baltic Shipbuilding Plant "Yantar", noted the readiness of the enterprise to continue the series of BDK of the modernized project 11711 for the Russian Navy. This is reported by TASS .
"Taking into account the specialization of the plant and extensive experience in the development of military projects, I would like to build a series of large amphibious ships on our premises, which the Russian Navy needs," he said.
According to Samarin, in the second half of 2022, the company will have free berths after launching orders for water. He stressed that new orders will avoid downtime.
The Baltic shipbuilding plant "Yantar" has built two BDK projects 11711 "Ivan Gren" and "Peter Morgunov". Now the company is working on two ships of the modernized project 11711 "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" for the Russian Navy.
Earlier, Ilya Samarin said that the hulls of ships of the modernized project 11711 are being formed at the PSZ. He noted that the construction schedule of the ships was adjusted taking into account their modernization.
