Each of them is capable of transporting up to 13 main battle tanks
MOSCOW, January 11. /tass/. Large amphibious assault ships (BDK) of the modernized project 11711 "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" are being built at the Baltic shipyard "Yantar" according to an adjusted technical design, their hulls are formed on the stocks. This was reported to TASS by the general director of the plant Ilya Samarin.
"The construction of these BDK is carried out according to an adjusted technical project. The period of the production cycle of construction today is the slipway. The hulls of both ships are being formed," he said.
The General Director explained that the ships "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" laid down at the PSZ are significantly different from the projects of their predecessors, so the construction schedules have been adjusted to take into account the work on their modernization.
"Before the start of the tests, there are still a lot of production tasks to be completed in the technological sequence, so it's premature to talk about factory sea trials of these ships," Samarin said.
The BDK of the modernized project "Vladimir Andreev" and "Vasily Trushin" will differ from the previous versions by increased operational capabilities and will form the basis of the updated amphibious forces of the Russian Navy. The displacement of the ships of project 11711 is over 6 thousand tons. Each of them is capable of transporting up to 13 main battle tanks, or up to 36 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, or up to 30 vehicles, as well as a battalion of marines.
